Ms. von Zitzewitz's photographs span three years in the lives of the foundation's children and their poor neighbours. The photos in the book are of the children under the protection of the Mercy Centre of the Human Development Foundation (HDF) in Klong Toey and their environment. Many of these children have been abused in some form but all show courage and care for one another despite the difficult circumstances in which they were placed.

In its efforts to be a socially responsible member of its community, Jim Thompson has identified the work of the Human Development Foundation (HDF) and its Mercy Centre in Klong Toey as being worthy of support. The effort to help promote the sale of the book is an effort to help support the Mercy Centre.

The proceeds of the sale of the book will be used to support the care and education of the homeless children living at the Mercy Centre in Klong Toey. Currently 180 children ages 2 years to 19 years old, live under the shelter of Mercy, receive their daily meals and are educated to help them achieve a better life.
