EDITED BY FIRST TIME
Paris, September 2005
Following the success of Jim Thompson's existing furniture collections in Thailand two more collections were launched internationally, with a stunning fusion of 'east meets west' inspiration. Designers Ou Baholyodhin and Christian Duc launched their collections at Maison et Objet September 2005 with the Parisian manufacturer and distributor, 'First Time'.
First Time
Founded in 1978 by Didier Gomez and previously owned by Jean-Paul Cremieux, the manufacturer and distributor of contemporary furniture in France, First Time is now owned by Hugues Chevalier S.A. With First Time's savoir-faire in the manufacturing industry and Jim Thompson's internationally renowned textiles the partnership has already been proved a success with exciting results.

OU BAHOLYODHIN
Jim Thompson’s collaboration with London-based designer, Ou Baholyodhin, offers the ideal synergy of lifestyle and design extending into furniture and interior accessories. Two impressive pedigrees working together; Jim Thompson, an internationally renowned brand, united with Ou Baholyodhin whose design has been sought by top retailers such as, Colette (Paris), Corso Como 10 (Milan), Troy (New York), The Conran Shop (London & Tokyo).
Hemingway & Mandarin
Ou has created a collection of armchairs, sofas and tables that sets the pace for contemporary Thai design.
Mandarin, a handsome collection of solid timber pieces in an oriental dark finish. The simple geometric design lends it self beautifully to occasional and bedside tables, a console and a work desk.
Hemingway, a fully modular system comprising chic, well proportioned comfortable upholstered pieces. The collection consists of a two/ three seater sofa (tables can be slotted in between), demi sofa, side or club chair, chaise longue and a daybed/ bench. |
CHRISTIAN DUC
Christian Duc and Jim Thompson are no strangers to each other and they have developed a ‘familiarity’ over the years. From this long-term fusion, three exotic contemporary furniture collections have evolved – Shanghai and Lanna Comfort. Christian’s vision of Asian, urban and western design has been fused to create a functional and aesthetically striking collection. Duc is extremely passionate about his work, as each piece has been painstakingly crafted to adjust to our needs whilst keeping his signature of quality and design.

Lanna Comfort
The Lanna Range is comprised of a two and three seater sofa and armchair. Lanna is named after a serene village in Thailand where the abundance of religious temples and shrines creates an atmosphere of calm meditation. With this notion in mind Christian wanted to grant us
moments of this serenity in a seating experience of utmost comfort and support. The Lanna range has a silk throw with inbuilt rests adjustable to your neck and lower back and deep seats which are extremely comfortable and allow you to sink right into the back of the sofa. |

Annam
The Annam coffee tables are upholstered in leather with a dark wood frame. Smart and functional these are useful pieces in the home either as coffee tables or as additional seating. |

Shanghai
The Shanghai takes Duc's ideas of functionality even further. At first this looks like a modern day bed upholstered in silk with a wooden frame and an array of cushions that are begging to be reclined on...but it gets better. With one swift movement the wooden frame around the seat can be lifted off, leaving a large padded bed with a pile of scatter cushions. Pure unadulterated decadence.
